Yeast Protein
Yeast protein is a microbial protein derived from the controlled fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Through fermentation and subsequent processing, protein fractions are obtained from yeast cells and refined into a high-protein ingredient suitable for food and nutrition applications. Yeast protein contains a broad spectrum of essential amino acids required by the human body and is considered a nutritionally valuable protein source.
Due to its relatively high protein content and balanced amino acid composition, yeast protein can serve as an alternative or complementary protein source to traditional animal and plant proteins. In addition, yeast protein typically exhibits acceptable sensory characteristics such as mild flavor, light color, and good dispersibility, making it suitable for incorporation into a wide variety of food formulations. When added to food products, yeast protein can contribute to improved nutritional value and enhanced protein enrichment.
